Pediatric
First Aid
Book Review
By
Jennifer
Allen
A few years
ago my boss
asked me to
take CPR. In
the class we
also learned
infant CPR.
Not too long
ago I was at
a Keeper’s
At Home
party at
church. One
of the
activities
we did was
discuss
responsibilities
wives and
mother’s
have, things
that would
be in wisdom
to learn.
One mother
mentioned it
would be
good to
learn
pediatric
first aid. I
was walking
through the
library and
saw a new
book sitting
on the
shelf. It
was
Pediatric
First Aid
for
Caregivers
and Teachers
from the
American
Academy of
Pediatrics.
I would
recommend it
as a great
book for
parents to
read and a
reference to
keep on your
shelf. There
are a number
of photo’s
and
illustrations
throughout
the book.
The book is
laid out in
a text book
style with
learning
objectives
noted at the
beginning of
each chapter
and a short
multiple
choice quiz
at the end
of the
chapter.
Some of the
chapter
topics
include
infections,
allergic
reactions,
bites and
stings,
bone, joint,
and muscle
injuries,
eye
injuries,
and more.
The chapters
also have
step by step
visual
reviews of
first aid
procedures
and flow
charts to
help decide
what to do
with that
particular
injury. This
book was
written by
the American
Academy of
Pediatrics.

purchasing
this book. A
VHS or DVD
by the same
title is
available
with live
footage. I
haven’t
known many
children who
made it
through to
adulthood
without some
accident in
their life.
I have a
young cousin
who is alive
today
because his
mother knew
CPR!
